He could feel it in the core of his being, the muted rumbling of the masses. He could not see, he was blind, but he could feel it. The air was charged, and it triggered something in him. He asked, with urgency, “What’s going on?” Someone replied, “Its Jesus of Nazareth passing by.” That did not nearly satisfy his curiosity, it only turbocharged it. So, he asked again, “Who is he?” The other man replied, “Haven’t you heard? Some say He is Elijah, some say Moses, and some, the Messiah. He had been preaching the kingdom of God and proving himself with amazing miracles, like opening blind eyes and raising the dead.” That kindled a fire in the blind man; no, something exploded within him. The revelation of the Messiah, the truth, exploded in him like a bomb, in a liberating way. And he cried out, “Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me.” The other man hushed him, “Man, you are going to get us in trouble, be quiet.” But Bartimaeus had a revelation, and he believed it. He was not going to be quiet.
For many months now, the Lord Jesus has been moving in the US, but in a very different way. The atmosphere is charged with anticipation. The prophets, with their antennas abuzz, have been picking up things in the Spirit and prophesying, relentlessly, about the great revival that is coming. The tsunami of a revival that will shake the US, unlike anything that the world has ever witnessed before. The supernatural fire of God that will spread throughout the nations of the world. But there seems to be a coldness about the body of Christ. It is sluggish, indifferent and preoccupied with its usual distractions. It feels as if it is in a coma, refusing to wake up when it should be excited, jumping for joy.
The Lord is using one man, imperfect as he is, to root out, to pull down, to destroy, and to throw down, much of the strategic plans and infrastructure that the enemy had meticulously laid down over many decades. Things that have dragged the nation down to unforeseen depths morally, spiritually and socially, casting away the guardrails of decency and common sense. Celebrating evil while denigrating good and delegitimizing the truth. But the Lord is leveling the mountains and making the crooked paths straight legally, socially and culturally using raw political power through a man whom He has chosen. He has created a window of opportunity for the church to arise and to step into its rightful position of authority before the darkness returns with greater force. It is the Lord’s doing, and it ought to be marvelous in our eyes. He has given us this opportunity to rise up and bring in as many souls as possible into His kingdom before it gets too dark. Yet the body seems to be oblivious of His doings and unable to think as one with His mind having His same vision and objectives.
Did we learn anything from the Covid debacle? It is a distant memory now, fading fast along with the lessons learned, if there were any. Yes, I am referring to the time when the churches folded like the proverbial house of cards and the shepherds and the sheep alike went into hibernation. Interestingly, when the churches finally reopened, the people simply regrouped and dusted off their old agendas and got back into the game. Yes, the same old game, perhaps with more cheer-leading and strategic sales initiatives than substance. From the horrible Covid season, the nation seamlessly slipped into another season of planned implosion, morally, spiritually, culturally and economically, leaving it more diseased and desperate than before. It is from this depth that the Lord has raised us up again as a nation. But the church in general is mysteriously unresponsive to what He is doing, even though it is as loud and obvious as the man through whom He is doing it. If you are still wondering, yes, it is Donald Trump. The Lord has pulled off the impossible, opening this brief window of sanity, so that the church can arise and fulfill its purpose as the body of Christ. Yet the body seems to be more invested in its old schemes in new packages. Will we reject our opportunity like the Israel of old and return to the wilderness, leaving the honor of entering the promises of God to another generation? Or have we already rejected the new wine because we are too used to the old?
Though Bartimaeus was blind, he could see. And he had ears to hear. He was not going to let the opportunity to have his eyesight slip away. His soul cried out to him, “He is the Son of David, the merciful King, the Messiah. This is your opportunity, cry out to Him.” His faith rose like the Jordan River in floods, and it spilled over into the floodplains of his soul. And he cried out again, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.” The Son of God paused, and He commanded to bring the blind man forward...
What about us? Will we only keep preaching revelation and faith, or will we also catch the same exploding revelation and the fiery faith that moves mountains, in our own hearts? Faith that produces its fruit through obedience. Having crushed the schemes of the enemy, yet again, the Lord is waiting for us to get our act together. Will we arise as one and begin to gather with Him instead of scattering and wasting this opportunity which He has presented to us? If we don’t, it will pass, and we will return to the wilderness to make way for another generation that possesses the true revelation of who He is and the faith that moves His heart. That generation will enter into the land of His promises with Him, not us.
It is a joy to share with you what the Lord is doing in and through our lives. Thank you for praying for us.
